Speaking of getting business from blogs…

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Here’s a fabulous article on How to Make Money from Business Blogging, from my favorite website from Down Under–Flying Solo.

It seems to say all the right things for what I believe–mostly that blogs indirectly lead to getting customers and making money. They rarely accomplish that on their own. A blog is exposure, a way for your customers to get to know you and your product or service, and a way for you to get to know them. Plus they say it does fabulous things for one’s search engine ranking.

It’s better than being popular in high school. (Not that I would know from experience!)

Fun with outsourcing

If you are a sole practioner or small company, you may not think outsourcing would even work for you. This service looks pretty cool: Get Friday. I haven’t tried it, but I’ve heard of other writers using similar services for database management and fulfillment services.

This company can help with all sorts of activities like accounting, formatting documents, managing your databases. So you can focus on the part of your job that earns the money. They even help with more personal things like booking flights, making appointments, and helping you with correspondence with your friends. That last one makes me giggle–I just can’t see how someone could outsource that and have it be worth the time and money spent. This company will pretty much do anything they can to help you, as long as they can do it online. Because if you outsource to this company, you’re offshoring (which is, by the way, usually the thing that people are afraid of when they tell you they don’t like outsourcing). They’re in Bangalore India!

This is fascinating to me. I’d love to try this service at some point!
