Focus on this…

Friday, April 4th, 2008

This week I’ve been in lock-down mode. Two huge projects, one due today and one next Friday, have me extraordinarily focused. To the point where I have barely stopped to do anything to interrupt the flow. (Watching The Big Bang Theory on Monday night was a required, and fabulously funny, break.)

Into this mindset, a friend sent this article on willpower from the NY Times, as she and I are both highly focused right now (she to run a marathon!).

Opening mail, reading magazines online or off (you would not believe the stack that has now taken over my living room), and answering email messages have all taken a back seat. It’s amazing how, when focused, I can’t seem to even find five minutes to think about scheduling a lunch four weeks out, and how hard it was to stop to write this post.

Funny thing, the mind and willpower…

What do you give up, miss, or totally avoid doing when in head-down, all-hands-on-deck focus mode?

Embracing success

Rejection and failure are part of running a business. But so is success! Freelance Switch has a great entry today on how to make sure you celebrate your successes.

This article is especially meaningful to me, as I approach the deadline for the submission of the manuscript for my first book. I’m still too ensconced in the writing to let myself imagine the day a box of my books arrives. (But I can’t wait!)

For today and as many days to come as we can make it happen, let’s only think of, and talk about, our successes.
